BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) mutations have been associated with retinitis pigmentosa (RP)
RP is a group of inherited eye disorders that cause progressive vision loss. Symptoms include: night blindness and loss of peripheral vision. RP is the leading cause of visual disability and blindness in people under 60 years old. There's no cure for RP, but treatments can help with complications. Therapy can also help patients cope with the psychosocial impact of the disease.
